Start a registry early- add everything you think you need, then add all the ones you'd consider, do the research, narrow it down according to reviews/features/budget. That was my plan. ;-)

Side note: I use Babyli.st website so I can add from everywhere.

Babies r us registry has a list that says things you need and things you might and it marks them off once you add them to your registry, you do not need everything it says you do but it gives you a pretty good idea. Diapers were pretty easy for me because my fiancé and myself were both allergic to huggies and pampers as babies so we use luvs and they're super affordable and work great as well!

Also when getting a mattress for the crib make sure it is firm! Nothing soft

you want stuff that's practical, but good quality. like, for some reason I got 3 or 4 swing at one of my baby showers (plus a travel swing) when, really you only need one! do your research, this time around I'll be getting the mamaroo. but, after doing my research on the 2012 model and the 2015 model, the 2012 is better because it's more practical for real life!...

as far as diapers, I always used huggies! I tried pampers and luvs, but my babies peed right through them! Huggies work the best!
