I wanted to share a life saving alert to all pregnant or soon to be pregnant woman. There is a condition that happens in the last trimester of pregnancy called Obstetric Cholestasis. It is a liver condition caused by hormones and it causes stillborn around 38-39 weeks. A symptom is itching on bottom of feet and/or palms of hands. Can itch all over body but especially in feet and hands. If you are experiencing this tell your OB or midwife. There is a simple blood test they can do to find out and it could save your baby's life. Last Wednesday I was 36 weeks and 5 days pregnant, I couldn't sleep and my feet were itching and had been itchy for a few weeks. I decided to look up a remedy and came across this condition. On Thursday morning, I told my doctor and she said she doesn't think I have it but to get the blood test done anyway. On Friday morning, I got a phone call from my doctor saying I have the condition and need to go to labor and delivery right now and have my baby. So I deliveredy baby girl at 37 weeks. On the way to postpartum room a nurse told me that just last month a woman came in at 38 weeks with same condition and her baby did not survive. She didn't know she had the condition. So sad and scary. I don't know what would of happened if I didn't look it up. Please spread the word to pregnant friends. It could save their baby.
