From another person...
I wanted to share a life saving alert to all pregnant or soon to be pregnant woman. There is a condition that happens in the last trimester of pregnancy called Obstetric Cholestasis. It is a liver condition caused by hormones and it causes stillborn around 38-39 weeks. A symptom is itching on bottom of feet and/or palms of hands. Can itch all over body but especially in feet and hands. If you are experiencing this tell your OB or midwife. There is a simple blood test they can do to find out and it could save your baby's life. Last Wednesday I was 36 weeks and 5 days pregnant, I couldn't sleep and my feet were itching and had been itchy for a few weeks. I decided to look up a remedy and came across this condition. On Thursday morning, I told my doctor and she said she doesn't think I have it but to get the blood test done anyway. On Friday morning, I got a phone call from my doctor saying I have the condition and need to go to labor and delivery right now and have my baby. So I deliveredy baby girl at 37 weeks. On the way to postpartum room a nurse told me that just last month a woman came in at 38 weeks with same condition and her baby did not survive. She didn't know she had the condition. So sad and scary. I don't know what would of happened if I didn't look it up. Please spread the word to pregnant friends. It could save their baby.
Currently waiting for my results for this condition! Last night I couldn't sleep I was so itchy, but today it's just mild itchiness. Weird.
No problem ladies. Spread the word to your family and friends and anyone you know thats pregnant. We might be saving a baby here.
Thank you so much for sharing,,, I definitely will be looking out for the signs!!!
Do you know what causes it?
