hey ladies!! I'm new here and I have a 2 year old girl and want to have another one but being a diabetic I'm nervous about my health getting in the way of having another baby and possibly being away from my daughter. does anybody have any advice or experienced anything similar???

They'll most likely keep you overnight, mine does anyway. My hospital has you stay for 48 hours

I went through the same with my 2 year old. drs visits every week, then twice a week then 3 times. I was induces at 37 weeks because of my pressure. but I struggle with my diabetes now. I just don't wanna be in the hospital overnight pregnant with my daughter at home.

Also, my doctor is having me induced at 39 weeks. I guess with diabetics there's a problem with the placenta not being any good towards the end so they prefer to induce. I've been on top of my diabetes and my boy is normal size and is super healthy and active at 34 weeks :) you can do it!

I've been type 1 since I was 11. You'll definitely have to see doctors waaaayy more often. I've had/am getting a total of 16+ ultrasounds for my pregnancy. They have to monitor your baby a lot more, and you'll want to have a nice A1C prior to becoming pregnant so that your baby has a better chance of developing correctly. Are you on a pump? My insulin needs have DOUBLED. You'll have to be on a lot tighter of a range. I see my Endocrinologist every 4 weeks and I see the diabetes educators in between those appointments (so I end up having appointments every 2 weeks to make changes to my insulin rates. Sometimes more often). You'll have to be more closely monitored but it's definitely doable :) Type 1s tend to have healthier babies than that of Type 2s and gestational diabetes since we can keep a tighter range with insulin. It's just crazy how much you'll end up needing. I go through 120+ units a day
