when should I start planning my son's first birthday party? he only going to be 5 months old on Feb 4

I waited until last minute and then we where in a car accident and all my money got stolen at Christmas so I couldn't even afford his party but thank God for my best friend she helped me out ALOT and bought everything for his party even the food.
