I had my daughter in a bassinet until she was 3 months and then she switched to her crib. I think it's a must. She was in a pack and play when we would visit the grandparents but after a little while she wasn't comfortable in it.

I got mine at a yard sale for 30 dollars. really nice too! so if we don't use it it wasn't a waste of money

@jackieee, I use a pack n play until 7 months and then switch to crib in their own room

bassinet and a pack n play work just as well as having a crib but they dont take up as much space

its a personal choice. we got one because we got a good deal on it but havent used it as we co sleep
