Serious question, what's the whole theory behind skin to skin contact immediately after birth? Is it really that important? Is it bad that I want my baby to be cleaned off before he is placed on my chest? I know it sounds kind of shallow and I'll probably change my mind when I'm in the heat of the moment and I see my baby for the first time but just the thought of coming in contact with all that blood and vaginal gunk grosses me out lol 😕

I refused immediate skin to skin until my son was bathed. After that we both enjoyed it very much and still do and it's been a week.

I loved the skin to skin I didn't mind one bit. you forget about it all. can't b wait to do it again with this one.

Having immediate skin to skin, I have heard, helps babies breathing because it'll sync up with yours & will benefit their breathing right away. But that's just what I have heard :) I plan on having immediate skin to skin, but they can clean them off while they're on your chest!

They typically wipe them off while they are laying on you. My babies weren't bathed until about 12-24 hrs after they were born.
