@jariyahsmommy, it enters and leaves your milk like it does your blood. So it leaves your milk there's no need to pump and dump it. A drink or two does not transfer hardly anything to your child and after an hour or so it's completely left your milk. Check out the link I posted the research on it is quite fascinating. It's not like you're giving your child rum or something 😂
Pumping and dumping is a waste of milk, and pumping does NOT remove alcohol from the bloodstream or your breastmilk. The amount of alcohol that actually reaches your bloodstream is so miniscule, that if you are sober enough to drive, you are sober enough to nurse. Alcohol content in breastmilk isn't the main cause of concern while nursing; it's being blatantly drunk and accidentally smothering or harming your baby. One or two drinks is fine, but if you are concerned; alcohol metabolizes at a rate of 1 standard-measured drink per 2 hours. a standard-measured drink is 1 oz of liquor OR 5 oz of wine OR 12 oz of beer. Ex: If you drink 2 glasses of wine, it'll typically be out of your bloodstream in 4 hours.
@brazenmommy, I just want to say THANK YOU!!! FINALLY someone who understands how much of a waste pumping and dumping is, and who gets alcohol isn't bad (a couple drinks) while nursing in fact beer will make you produce more because of the hops haha after 1 beer, I thought I was going to explode I was so full! lol but thank you so much!!!
