What is the tradition/ etiquette when selecting Godparents?

I'm not sure if there is one, but my best friend will be mine as I am hers.

That is what I did with my first, now I'm wondering who to go with for my second. @taestasia

my maid of honor at my wedding/best friend/ only true friend thats had me since say 1 is my babies godmomma and the husbands best bro is babies godfather. only people we can trust and rely on thats never left or let us down

Well, my best friend hasn't been the best goddie. My other bestfriend is my cousin. I'm thinking my sister, idk if that is weird to be Aunty and goddie. @taestasia,
