I have been thinking about delaying the clamping of the umbilical cord at birth. if anyone could give me information about it, have done it, what the pros and con's are please. I would love to hear any input you may have. 😊💚
I'm still only going every 4 weeks, so if you think about it let me know what your midwife says about the length of time they delay. thanks again for your help @momagainjj82 !!!
@ericaann1993, that's a good question, one for my next appointment lol. I never know the right questions to ask so I usually jot some down and ask at my next if I forget. Every two weeks now so I don't have to wait too long 😊
thank you @momagainjj82 Its not always best to believe what ya read on the internet and that's where I saw that information, so it could very well be false. How long do they delay?
My midwife group does it automatically and I just talked to her about it this week. I guess it helps with blood volume and increases immunities. She didn't mention any negatives like jaundice. I'll have to ask.
I'll have to try and remember to ask at my next apt. thanks @sunshine09 @stacy28
they should have gave u a paper when I had your first apt
they also should have a pallet at the office I go to for more information
maybe talk to your doctor. they may know more and even have a booklet on it.
I have looked into it a little and there are some pros but also it can cause jaundice. @stacy28 @sunshine09 I just feel like I look for information and am not finding as much as I would like
I want to donate my umbilical cord blood to the red cross. idk if I can do both.
My midwife delays it until the cord goes white, meaning there's no blood left in it
