My doctor gave me the most wonderful piece of information. I complained about always sleeping on my left side and she said "As long as you're comfortable - the Baby is fine. If you wake up from sleeping on your back its just you bodies way of telling you to switch positions. You can roll up a towel and put it under your back on your right side and that'll keep the blood flowing. And sleeping on your right is fine. You'll mess up your hips if you only sleep in one position."
YESSSSSSSSSSS No more guilty right side sleeping! BOOM! I love my OB. She's a real women whose had 3 kids in the last 10 years. 😍

So it's ok to sleep on our left ? Cause I'm most comfortable on my left and find myself sleeping on my left a lot ...

@blessing2016, They say pregnant women should always sleep on their left. I just have horrible arthritis and carpal tunnel and sciatic pain so sleeping in the same position every night is very painful and hard on my joints.

@blessing2016, your left side just provides the best blood flow to your uterus. your right side is ok to sleep on. they say no back sleeping because your uterus presses on an artery and reduces the blood flow to your uterus and can cause other problems for you as well

@arijane316, The left side keeps your uterus from pressing on your liver. But not everybody has the same anatomy or organ size. That's why my doctor was saying that as long as you feel comfortable then your baby is perfectly fine. It's actually more of a concern to the mother to lay on your back because there are arteries that flow to your heart. But propping your right hip up prevents that from happening anyways. And as long as you don't feel faint - the babies blow flow is optimal. It's just easier and faster for doctors to say "just sleep on your left." 👍

@lilbabyboy16, if you don't feel faint or dizzy or numb then you're good to go! Throw something under your right hip if you're worried. lol
