depressed... warning... applied for an apartment through the council. didn't get it. this round…

I know how you feel, my area is really bad! We got kicked out of my MILs and were living in a b&b for 3 months before we got somewhere and there isn't a shortage of housing here. Then we found out we should be in a 2 bed house and not a tiny 1 bed flat so will have to move again soon. My neighbour's smoke weed and it comes through our vents and a lot of parties go on which cause so much noise in the early hours. I don't leave my curtains open if I go out so people can't see the tv, Xbox etc. and have had people lurking round to see if anyone's in before. The guy that lived here before is in prison but owes a lot of money to drug dealers and companies so have had both drug dealers and bayliffs banging on the door. Had to prove to them that the guy didn't live here anymore and was quite scary. I've also had to clean loud of mould off of the surfaces and windows because the council don't, it was quite disgusting when we moved in. Had no flooring either. I hope you get a place soon, the council really do like to mess people around and let people get away with all sorts of stuff. I'm having a problem at the moment with the neighbour upstairs letting people use the parking out front as a taxi rank (the drivers don't live here) so we can rarely park outside which isn't practical for us x

council should take better care of families! baby's should be priority! I work 55 hours a week as a dental manager and we still can't afford getting our own place without the council. some of the houses say only for working couples but then my OH tells me he knows lots of people there and none of them work. are they sorting you out? how come you are entitled to a 2 bedroom apartment? and why did they not tell you!! they are rubbish @mamapop xz

I know of a guy that is a drug addict that doesn't work but has got a 2 bed house, it's shocking. I got fired but we still wouldn't be able to afford private with both of us working either! Yeah we're applying when we register the baby and should hopefully get a house before she's 6 months because she needs her own room and we really struggle for space. It's pretty bad but we'll get there in the end and I'm sure you will too ☺️ x

could you not just save up and pay a bond? least that way you get to pick ur home... i only have a two bed house but we went through paying bonds ect... our baby will be in our room untill we get a bigger place but the council will let baby sleep in ur room for up to a year of age.. so yet again we saving to move which i dont mind as id rather scrimp and save and say we did it our selfs rather than blag council... and tbh its probably less hassle doing it ur selves @felicjuh @mamapop x

We're going to try and save up when I get another job and start putting money into one of those government ISA's to buy a house eventually. We would have done by now but baby stuff is so pricey, I've spent all of my savings and more on it all! X

I was on the list from Oct 14, had my son Feb 15 and got a place to move in end of April 15.. The right place will come up.. I was very lucky with my house as its in a quiet village.. I find they will house you more when your baby is born than when still pregnant xx
