my son has a fever of 104.3. just gave him Tylenol but do I still need to take him to the ER??
Thank you everyone I really appreciate the help. he has a sinuse infection and pharyngitis. there wasn't anything they could give him cuz his Dr already prescribed him an antibiotic. and a fever is only dangerous to a human if it's over 106.7 but it's normal for a first time mom to go to the er for a fever. the er paediatric Dr said the only way they have febrile seizures is dropping the temp too low too fast.
I took my son to the er cuz i felt in my heart that it was a good idea and I needed more that 1 drs advice about what to do.
this is a scared mommy! she's worried about her child! get over yourselves and stop arguing! do what you feel is right @radatzmama and prayers are being sent your way!
Are you a med student? @lp1988727 I would be cautious of telling someone not to have their child seen for a fever so high. I was taught in med school to treat children and not let them leave with fevers that high.
I think it's better safe than sorry. No point in NOT taking him in, in case he has an infection of some sort or something going on. Also, my daughter had a febrile seizure at 103.9. And @lp1988727 I'm not sure what you're going to school for but febrile seizures and other traumatic things can happen to children with fevers 101 and up.
@lp1988727, FYI I wasn't the one who said it was high. but from what I learned in school if a little kid or baby has a fever higher than 100 then take them cuz it could cause hearing loss and other problems. rather be safe then sorry. what if something happens to her kid and you tell her no don't go just from an experience you had when her baby is probably experiencing a whole other thing?
If you decide to wait a pit I'd do a Luke warm bath too it usually helps bring my sons down
@brwneydgirly25, I called the nurse earlier today when he had the 104 temp at 11 am and she seemed like she really didn't "care" and so did his Dr. they were no help to me so I decided that going to the er again was my best bet to get some answers about it and I'm glad I did cuz the Dr was very nice and educated me a lil more about the fevers.
