Does anyone know of any alternative methods to relieve pain during labor besides an epidural?

yea @kellikrystne that's the only down side of it so I wouldn't recommend it unless u absolutely can't take the pain at all

@motherof6joys, yeah my mom has back damage from it.

it happens years later. all of my friends are having back problems also. it's just back pain but we've all gotten it after getting an epidural so we all asked our doctors and they said that was the cause. Everyone's body is different though.

@motherof6joys, i never had back pain from the epidural and i had 2 done, well 3 because they had to reposition it when i was in labor with my daughter

@motherof6joys, yeah that's what I'm worried about. I'm 22 and I don't want anything to happen to my back later on. I will definitely look into what you did though. Thank you!

one thing though, the epidural does effect you later down the line...causes back pain

@kellikrystne, yes with my first born they Gave me that first and said if that don't work then try the epidural. it worked but I was so scared because it was my first that when they asked me if I still wanted the epidural later I said yes because I was 15 and thought the pain was going to be unbearable.... which it wasn't lol

I know when I got to the hospital I asked for something for pain, they gave me pain medication in a IV, felt pretty good, and super sleepy. I still got the epidural, but that could be an alternative for you.

there's this medicine they will give you in your iv that will knock u out instantly if you don't want an epidural but you still wake up during a contraction Lol
