how come we aren't supposed to sleep on our backs?

i wish i could sleep on my back or shoot mis sleeping on stomach sick of tossing an turning every night throughout my son hates when im on my left side an when on my back i cant breathe good feel winded like 36wks an the 12th of February can't come fast enough

Oh my gosh I didn't know this. I sleep on my back its the only position I can get comfortable at night

Don't worry about it too much... If you start to feel out of breath or short-winded, then that's a sign to change positions

(Although from reading the studies, you'd have to do it A LOT for prolonged amounts of time to really have negative effects on the fetus.)

all the weight from your growing uterus puts pressure on vital organs and blood vessels and you won't get adequate blood flow to you or the baby

It's puts pressure on a major vein and if done enough, can cut off blood supply to baby.
