FTM planning to breastfeed but I was wondering should I have some formula stocked up just in case…

honestly there really is no way to tell until you give it to her, my son was Lactose intolerant and I didn't know until he was drinking milk based formula and was always spitting up and that stopped when I switched him to Soy Based formula.

Yea it sucks because you have to deal with them getting almost like sick when you switch formula I had to change my sons about 3-4 times before they found out what was wrong with him and why he was spitting up every ounce he drank.

im doing both because im going back to work after my daughter turns 6 months so i wont be able to just breastfeed her all the time.. and i did it with my daughter n she didnt seem to notice the difference

Oh wow that's horrible! @mamaofangelbaby0610 and I plan to go back to work ASAP also but I'm just breastfeeding then I'll ween her to using a bottle hopefully with my breastmilk while I'm at work. All baby's are different @happymommyof2 @lp1988727 that's what I was meaning was it depends on the child I just prefer to have the body contact with my baby 😊 at some point of course she'll go to the bottle nipple it'll just all depend on my milk production and if she will latch on to my nipple.

I wouldn't buy formula until after delivery and you've talked to the pediatrician and had a lactation consultant talk to you about breastfeeding and all that. Personally I don't believe nipple confusion exists. I think babies just get lazy since it's easier to bottle feed than it is to breastfeed, but that's just me. I hope you're able to breastfeed! =]

I just don't want to not have formula for her is my biggest worry! I do have an appointment closer to my due date for lactation consulting and learning about breastfeeding. I just wasn't sure if other people stocked up on some just to have some on hand when bringing the baby home. @kimberlyyyy

Yea he was finally able to keep down the Soy Based formula, Prosobee Enfamil is what it was called. @lp1988727

I signed up at Similac and Gerber and Enfamil and they send free small cans to you in the mail. Gerber sent me 2 cans of supplementing formula and I have 6 cans from Similac so far. Also, if you have a pregnancy educator you meet with at OB office, sometimes they can give samples too. I recommend the sample stuff because then if you don't end up needing to buy formula, you won't have thrown money down the drain.

@jnanzer94, if you're worried, you could have a can or two on hand for just in case. (We had some free samples at home.) That would last a few days if needed. But I hope you don't need it! 😀 When we weaned, we did Gerber good start (mixed well with breast milk too).
