have a almost 3 week old. her night and days are mixed. how can I get her to stay awake during the day and sleep at night? or is it too early to start training her.

I'm a first time mom, any advice is appreciated. thanks.

It's never too early to start. My daughter was like that when she came out the NICU since they always had lights on she didn't know the difference, doctor told me to just keep everything bright during the day, open windows by her crib even if she's napping. At night keep it dark with no lights or at least dim and her room quiet. I know you want to watch your baby and always have them by your side when you are still up but they more they get comfortable with sleeping on their own in their own bed in the dark the easier it will be for you since they will get use to it and have that sleeping schedule early. I swear I was so glad I did that with my daughter since she was 3 months she's been on the same sleeping schedule of going to sleep at 10 and waking up at 6 and I love that I can get sleep too.

My son was like that at first too. Give it time, and they naturally create their own schedule. That's why people tell you to sleep when baby sleeps.

It is early waking the baby can actually disturb her brain brain from developing and keeping her up as well shell when shes up at night don't encourage her to be up . rock her or do things youll do when your putting her to sleep at around 3 to 4 months shell get the hang of it and switch around on her own (:

it's never really to early but when they are that young it will have to take A LOT of patience and determination. theyre still use to the cycle they had in the womb so if you suddenly start changing that it will take them a while to adjust

Waking to feed? My dd is a week old and I was told by her doctor to wake her every 2 hours during the day and 3-4 hours at night to feed her. For the first 3 days I did that and when I would wake her fit a night feeding she was fussy and usually wouldn't go back to sleep and would want to nurse constantly until about 9 am. I tried not waking her last night and she slept beautifully! She woke up around 6 hours in and ate then slept another hour or so and ate again. Is it ok to let her sleep?
