you can't get sick from the shot but you can have a strong immune response to it which can make you feel pretty crappy for a day or two. I will take that over getting the flu any day.
No problem. I was worried about this also in getting the shot. Lots of people talk about how the flu shot is a scam because you can still get sick from it... MOST vaccines include a small part of the virus, which is to introduce your body to it, to help you build immunity! That's what a vaccine is, basically. Not a scam at all. But any vaccine you get while pregnant is a whole different concoction. Less effective, but safe for baby or they wouldn't do it.
I just studied this (pre-med student). ALL vaccines are dead viruses that are injected into you in order to tell your body to build up antibodies to fight it so if the actual live virus dies at some point enter your body your body will fight it off immediately. With that, I've gotten sick multiple times getting the flu shot. Both pregnant and not pregnant. I don't get it anymore.
If you get the flu shot while you are pregnant, it does not include any live virus and you can not get sick FROM the shot. If you get it while you're not pregnant though it does include live virus and you could potentially get sick from this.
