From where I come smacking is part of training your child not hitting or leaving marks on them.

There is a very small line between disapling your child and child abuse... a little tap on the hand or bum isn't going to hurt. But parents are going to Judge anyways. What ever you say :) xx

I was smacked but rarely :) it wasn't hard either! It was more like a tap on the butt :) I will not be doing this to my child :) They can be desciplined in other ways. My mum mostly grounded us...like stopped us watching cartoons for a few days. I believe explaining to a child what they have done wrong/why it was wrong is better :) That way they can understand for themselves :) My OH is against smacking too. He is Jamaican but born here...his family have weird ideas about decipline to children. They literally beat them!! It doesn't matter if it is their child or not. They are allowed to smack them etc. He witnessed this in church a lot. xx

I was smacked as a child and it's the main thing I remember from my childhood! my mum knows this and still thinks it was perfectly okay for her to do. My partner experienced extremely bad abuse as a child so is especially against it @cmcdon203 @kellybear25

against any kind of abuse against children including mentally like calling names. never have I smacked never will. never did me good it lost respect it didnt gain any!!! x

I used to get badly smacked when I was wee for barely any reason! I won't b doin it! Think it's up to the parent tho! But I don't think it helped with my mental health tbh xx

I completely agree with you :) @babyboots I made the post because I just got attacked on a mummy Facebook page because I said I was against smacking and loads of women were saying you need to "spank" your children if you don't want them being disrespectful xx

my eldest is 18 and my youngest is 11 I've never ever needed to smack mine... im totally against it... theres other ways to deal with problems and smacking them is just not one of them... besides being against the law @firsttimemummy21 Xx
