Anybody who breastfeeds and pumps? Kind of the same thing because it's both breastmilk... but if I give him the bottles for a while... will he still take my boob if I offer it to him? I also use a nipple shield. Comments please!

My son would only take a bottle for a month and a half. Now he is HUGE into breastfeeding and still does bottle feeding

when my daughter was still in the hospital they had her using only a bottle. then I had to use a shield for a few weeks but now she has no issues without the shield. and goes back and forth between breast and bottle.

i used a shield for longest staryed giving my son a couple bottles of breastmilk afterwards he actually wouldnt nurse with the shield on lol only straight nipple so worked out for us

@atlas, why did you have to use a shield? And he wouldn't nurse with the shield afterwards? that's weird lol

@amirxalyak, he wouldnt open his mouth when first born so caused them to crack real bad plus they were flat so had to use a shield used one all way to 7 weeks he 9 weeks now and yeah thats what i said after bottle refused the shield which was fine by me since i wanted him off of it makes it lot easier

lol omg right. lol did the nipple shield hurt you? @atlas I'm giving him straight bottles now, hopefully when I offer him the boob again, he'll not want the nipple shield either. His latches are kind of painful with that.

@amirxalyak, naw it didnt hurt just was a pain in the butt constantly having to wash it then kept losing and then god forbid he moved even a little. fair warning its going to hurt like hell when you do get him to latch without a shield feels like your nipple getting ripped off it last about 1.5 weeks to 2 weeks till your nips get used to it then its fine after but usually only first few seconds that it hurts
