What have you ladies tried to increase breast milk supply?
Right now I pump about 2.5 Oz and my baby is 4 months old. The pediatrician said she isn't gain weight fast enough because at 4 months she only weights 11.8. She was only 5lbs 2oz when she was born at full term.
Fenugreek supplements are how I ensure my daughter is well fed. I buy them for like $8 for a little over a months supply. Mother's Milk Tea has Fenugreek in it but I can't stand the licorice taste so I just take the pills. also, eat lots of greens and focus on getting all of the nutrients from the food you eat. you may not be pregnant anymore but you are still eating for two.
Try non-alcoholic beer, fish oil or fish not high in Mercury. You can also look up lactation cookies, or mothers milk. My daughter is 4 months and I pump 8-13 ounces every session.
Wow thank you for the advice ladies! I will definitely try these things! 😀👍
@4loves1heart, same for you mama! Read my comment above to see if you're producing enough, and feed OFTEN at the breast to increase supply! My girl always refused bottles and by letting her eat often at the breast we've managed to make it almost 5 months strong 😄
Does she latch well at the breast? The best way to increase supply would be to let her feed at the breast, she is much more efficient at extracting milk and stimulating your breasts to produce than a pump is...I would suggest feeding her at the breast, then pumping after each feed until the milk stops coming out, and let the pump run for a few minutes still after that. Do this often, if possible every 2 hours until you notice a significant increase! If she can't latch then pump just as often and as I said leave the pump going a few minutes after you stop getting milk. It's supply by demand so the more you feed the baby, the more it tells your body to produce! How many times a day is your lil one peeing? She should be getting enough if she's peeing more than 6 times per day, of course weight gain is an indicator, if she was only 5lbs at birth, and 4 months old...that should be an average of 1 and a quarter pound per month right? Sorry if my math is atrocious lol but over 1lb per month seems right to me...have you considered finding a new pediatrician for a second opinion? Someone who is breastfeeding friendly? My girl was born 7.7lbs, and at 4 months was 14.5lbs, so she gained double her weight by 4 months, your baby has gained a little more than double her weight...in short, the general rule of thumb for breastfeeding is this: content baby + 6 or more wet diapers per day + weight gain = Breastfeeding SUCCESS! Definitely get a second opinion, and try to feed at the breast more than pumping because your baby is so much better at getting that milk than a pump!
do you drink lots of water? that can help also lactation cookies helped me! iv also heard of mothers milk but I never tried it
My daughter is 3 months and weighs only 10 lbs she was 7 lbs 3.5 oz at birth and I'm exclusively breastfeeding my milk supply is also low so I might be doing formula soon the problem is she doesn't like the bottle 😣 mothers milk tea is one the things that most mommies say works maybe if you give that a try it might workout for you 😊
How much you pump doesn't not decide how milk you make. Bc you could back 6 but only pump 1. And if she doesn't seem hungry after nursing she is fine! My son was abt that amount when he was that age! And my doctor just really supports breastfeeding. Make sure your doctor really supports it Bc that makes a big difference.
@hellosweetie, thanks 😊😊 will do
