Do any moms know what would happen if I were to get my medical marijuana card while pregnant..? I'm in Michigan. I'm terrified to get it because I don't want CPS trying to investigate me, but I've heard so many horror stories with it. I was thinking about getting it before I found out I was pregnant but once I did I just got scared because the last thing I want is to lose my daughter over it. It's the only thing that helps my medical problems though.
@seeyore, with a home birth you just use a midwife, have the baby at home, and don't go to the hospital at all (in ideal circumstances). I'm actually having one this time around as well!! It's scary but I like the idea of being able to relax anywhere in my own house while in labor 🙂
Thank you so much @altmom! I had no idea that home births meant no CPS lol. Though I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that or not.
I don't do drugs or smoke. But what I can say is my best friend smoked with both of her kids. They were massive babies lol and they are both SO smart!! Advanced in their development. She had a home birth so CPS would never have found out. I'm not sure if that's an option for you or not. Just wanted to throw some info in there from someone who doesn't judge people for having different points of view as me 😀 GOOD LUCK!!
its all good. reguardless of what you do, someone is always going to have an opion on it and that is with every decision you make. I did notice it said, the study was done while the marijuana was made into a tea or tonic and not smoked or inhaled. Do what you feel is best for you and your child because at the end of the day you'll be the one dealing with the decision you make, no one else, just weigh out your options. good luck @seeyore
@pretty_xoxo_giirl_, my OB knows everything & she would rather me use this & stay out of the hospital than be hospitalized for my entire pregnancy with a permanent IV in me.
I'm not trying to put you down or make you feel like crap. So thank you for that. @pretty_xoxo_giirl_
I dont smoke weed or use drugs. I also wouldnt drink a glass of wine because a Dr said its good for circulation while pregnant because the possablilty of all that extra stuff isnt as important to my childs health. I also wont take tylenol or eat McDonalds or from other shitty fast food resturants. I can sacrifice my needs for the human growing inside of me for the next 40 weeks. If you feel you absolutly need to smoke weed, go for it. Just be aware of the possible, not "100% guaranteed" side effects it may have. If its worth the risk for you and your comfortable with that decision 👍 but its not personally for ME. I love my child/children more than I love myself and to ME I dont think any possibility is worth it. @seeyore
@pretty_xoxo_giirl_, I just read the article you left, & noticed more than one thing wrong with it... "But marijuana’s effects during pregnancy can be difficult to determine. This is because many women who smoke or eat marijuana also use substances like alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs. As a result, it’s tough to say which is causing a problem" admits that what they do know isn't actually hard evidence or proof because they're admitting to having too many contributing factors in their studies. Also it said something about marijuana being the (not exact quote) "dried product of the sativa cannabis plant" which isn't true since sativa is referring to a type of marijuana. That article wasn't written by someone very knowledgable the topic... I'll post a new one.
Taking a NARCOTIC wasnt worth the risk to me, personally. Even the possibility of it happening. Small dose or not. @crunchymomma
@pretty_xoxo_giirl_, what "withdrawl" effects could you possible get from a small prescription might I ask? unless you have a drug problem to start with one pain killer prescription will not give you any time of withdrawal. I spent 4 months of my pregnancy on nonstop pain killers, some through an IV 24/7 at times, your doctor would never prescribe you enough of anything at one time for you to face withdrawls.
but the good news is with weed being legalized there will be more studies proving the benefits of smoking while pregnant, it's hard to prove the positive effects of something that's been ignorantly outlawed for so long since they haven't been able to authorize very many studies.
I cant say if she was or wasnt using any other drugs while pregnant because I never witnessed it myself but she openly admitted to using marijuana. Id just read up on all your pain management options and weigh out the pros and cons. Idk how far along you are or exactly what medical issues you are treating but look into all options before making a decision pregnancy is only 40 weeks.
^^& therefore are not always as knowledgeable about prescription pills & their potential side affects
@pretty_xoxo_giirl_, I've done quite a bit of research on it, & there's really not many cons, if any. But prescription pills I believe are different from medical marijuana as there's harmful substances in pills & also doctors are trained in knowing the human body, unlike a pharmacist who's trained in knowing the ins & outs of pills.
@happilymarriedmommaoffour, do you mind if I message you? Thank you so much for that information!!
I personally wouldnt risk it. Taking medical marijana. I know what I've seen and the mother admitted to smoking marijuana on a daily basis. I fractured my arm and sptained my ankle at almost 30 weeks pregnant. My OB prescribed me norco, which is a narcotic. I opted out on taking it because I felt the withdrawl effects were not worth it & my childs overall health was more important. @ericamonkseal
She can smoke "medical marijuana" its her kid, just weigh out the pros and cons.
I'm not saying that it's for everyone but I smoked with my last 3 pregnancies and my oldest 2 were 8lbs 1.3oz and 8lbs 7.1oz my third was 7lbs 6.3oz. so they all had good birth weights. they all had/have advance development! and it was great for morning sickness! I also live in Michigan! CPS cannot get involved if its medically necessary or prescribed to you.. and as far as learning disabilities and ADHD goes it doesn't mean that smoking marijuana or using cannabis in anyway contributes to it! my mother didn't smoke while pregnant with me and I have ADHD/ADD
@brinleysmommy, thank you very much!!
@pretty_xoxo_giirl_, was this person using/smoking anything else? Because there are studies outside of the US that show rather positive side affects of marijuana use during pregnancy such as babies socializing faster/easier & more. There's links online for them. One being a study from pregnancy through the first 5 years of life.
@crunchymomma, thanks for your experience. I'm just worried about it being marijuana since it's so controversial:/ if it were a prescription like that I feel like it would be treated differently than something most people only look at as a "street drug" :/
@pretty_xoxo_giirl_, unless you have a peer reviewed study to refer to, you really shouldn't just say things that you "think" are true. For many years people have utilized medical marijuana during pregnancy with zero side effects.
as long as its prescribed, I agree with brinleysmommy. when I was pregnant with my 1st I couldn't pass a drug test worth a crap and CPS couldn't do a thing about it because it was all pain killers prescribed to me at the time. they even came to my room and tried to say something about me falling for vicodin, loretab and hydrocodon in my system and I just looked at them like they were stupid and told them to talk to my doctor and get out of my room.
yes as long as it's medical,:) that's the same as saying CPS could get involved bc a mom takes xanax or other pills or medical things. I'm positive:)@seeyore
@brinleysmommy, are you positive? I'll talk to my OB & see what they think, I'm just tired of being looked at & judged like I'm a piece of crap over my use of it. But my use of it has been the only thing keeping me out of the hospital during this whole pregnancy. Without it I'd probably weigh even less.
oh. My boys dad mother smoked marijuana with all 4 of her kids and they have issues. Concentration, Hyper, learning disabilities, cant pay attention or sit still. . . . .
@pretty_xoxo_giirl_, yes it does if you're smoking tobacco. It's more the opposite with marijuana.
Doesnt smoking increase the risk of low bitrth weight, learning disabilities, and ADHD?
Please help!
My doctor is trying to induce me before 40 weeks because she's going to be off on my due date and says my placenta is starting to look old. How do I get labor started?? I don't want to be induced for no reason and I'm thinking I won't have a choice. Please help. What do I do to get things going?
My doctor also recommended me getting the flu shot while pregnant ? I'm not sure if I want to or if i should ? It's all scary to me !! What do you ladies think ? Did you get the flu shot while pregnant ? Are there any risks? Or should I wait ? I'm so scared of taking anything while pregnant , much less getting this shot.. He said it isn't mandatory , just recommended.
I guess I'm a whore because I got pregnant at a young age
Okay so someone on my Instagram wants to talk to me and finds me more attractive and wants me more because I'm pregnant... And he's not my baby's father... Is that weird like I find it very very strange he would wanna do things with me while I'm pregnant 😟🤔🤔
Don't you just love it when people try to out do you...I got pregnant so all of a sudden a certain someone wants to be pregnant because I'm getting a bit more attention!!
Right, totally understandable. This is just my first so I think I'll feel better at a hospital.
