has anyone else had problems with in laws or family members ruining a name you have picked out? we had the name Athena Skye picked put long before I got pregnant but my mother n law insists that Athena sounds like a dyke, butch, or Amazon warrior name. anytime the name comes up she says something negative and also refuses to call the baby that. she said she will call her Skye because it's more girly... I have a problem with that and there's a family member named Skylar. we wanted to stay away from having the same or similar name as anyone in the family.. so now we are trying to find another name... I know I shouldn't let her dictate what we do but she has never once said anything positive about the name and now I just don't even want to deal with it.

it's not her baby, tell her she has to call the baby Athena and that she has to stop being so rude, its your choice what you name the child. she has no say in it.
tell her to stuff it. Athena is a beautiful name and if you and your hubs agreed on it, it is none of her concern.

they wanted to change my sons name but my bf and I spoke about names before I got pregnant. remember its your baby not theirs you can name rhe baby anything as long as it feels right to you

Does anyone like their in laws?
With all the posts about terrible in laws I was just wondering if anyone actually likes their in laws?!?! I love me in laws. I'm blessed to have such a wonderful immediate and extended family. My mil loves spending time with my boys. She comes over at least once a week and will sleep over. She gets up with the boys in the morning and let's my husband and I sleep in. My fil is a great man also. He's always coming over to visit and do some odd jobs around the house...
Anyone that like boys names for girls I wanna hear your feedback. My husband and I have a name picked out for our second daughter. If celebrities can do it then why can't we? In my opinion this name is better than James, Wyatt or Lincoln. I know I can't screen out the 'I hate that name, think of how much she will be bullied' comments but wish I could.
