As horrible as it sounds, any tips on training your significant other? I love my fiancé to death but I need to get him out of the habit of picking my son up every time he whines. It was cute when my son was first born to see him rush to his side....but now my son knows as sop as he makes a noise, dad is going to pick him up. He only does it to him & I don't think it's good. My son loves playing on the floor or wherever & can be content by himself (allows me to get things done around the house) but as soon as dad walks in he starts crying to be held.

@mltober, That's a good point. I have no problems holding my son when he's crying for a particular reason. I've gotten really good at figuring out his different cries/ whines & know exactly what it is that he wants. I just don't think my SO has figured that out yet, he thinks he's crying because he needs something....when in reality my son is just punking him lol

Me and my husband have this problem. I will pick my son up anytime he cries and my husband won't. I just explained that if I am around I will hold him but I don't expect him too. If your SO wants to hold him then just let him know that he can but you won't so he can't expect you to hold him when he cries, if he wants him to be held then he has to do it.

@killxj0y, I have plenty of times. He just doesn't seem to understand it.

Have you tried explaining that to your fiancé?
