Getting induced at 37 weeks... Idk how to feel. I'm super nervous!! 😥 Definitely Bittersweet😁😕... Meeting my lil man even sooner but I rather him stay in until he's ready! Ladies who have gotten induced, please give me reassurance & a piece of mind that he'll be just fine!!😩😣😣
I have been induced twice. Induced doesn't necessarily equal Pitocin and Epidural. Induced means they will admit you and monitor you to see if you are contracting on your own AND progressing. if you are contracting but not progressing they will probably slip a pill or gel on your cervix to help dilate/effaced and rupture your membranes with this wooden crochet looking hook - if it kind of uncomfortable but can help get things going. After they monitor you for a while longer, if nothing happens they will hook you up to Pitocin and steadily increase the amount until your contractions get to where they want them and yes this can HURT terribly bad. On my first I was on Pitocin and the pain sucked, I opted for an epidural. On the second, I got a pill behind my cervix and my membranes ruptured and my body took over from there, no epidural and 1 dose of Staidol (?). Ultimately, it all comes down to each individuals pain tolerance - mine is pretty high.
I couldnt imagine having my little girl now XD Ive never been induced (Im a FTM) but all my friends said, its really not as bad as people make it seem! If you are planning for an epidural, SLEEP while you can. Labor takes a lot of energy, and people have said to sleep sleep sleep! But if you arent having an epidural, a lot of women said to switch positions a lot and move around to help manage the pain! Good luck girl! You got this:)
@mamamj, Thank you ! That was definitely helpful!
