I think one of the more potentially harmful things a parent could do is assume their kid is straight.

truuuue 🙌🙌🙌 every time someone says anything about my daughter dating i'll hit them with "if a guy (or girl if she's gay)..." can't force a preference on a child. gotta let them grow up & find themselves.
