MY BIRTH STORY:

At 40 weeks exactly I was scheduled to be induced with our second child at 6 am. We arrived at the hospital that morning and I was hooked up to my iv and pitocin was started. I was dilated to a 3 already when we arrived and 50% thinned. My pitocin was upped every 30 minutes and my water was broke at 8:30am. I was told to get up and use the bathroom and to switch positions as I pleased. Around 11 Am my contractions became painful with full on front labor. I had decided I wanted an epidural and received it about 1:00pm. My heart rate shot up to 135 while receiving the epi and I was told it was just my nerves. The shakes then began and I was still only dilated to a 3. About 45 min into having my epidural I felt crazy pressure and called the nurse in. Before she checked me she said I was probably at a 8 or 9 and I said no way 45 min ago I was only dilated to 3. Sure enough I was at 9. She said she would page the dr and she would be up soon. 5 min after she left I needed to push. She called the dr immediately and told her I was ready. They told me to not push until the dr was in the room. Well that wasn't happening. My epidural wore off at about 2 pm and the dr walked in about 2:05pm. I couldn't hold her in any longer. As soon as the dr sat down and told me to push when I felt like it I sure enough did. I pushed and birthed our 7 lb 7 oz baby girl out in 2 pushes without even being in a contraction. She was 19 3/4 inches long and we named her Kendall Lynn Richey. She was born at 2:20pm after going from 3cm to 10cm in under an hour. I had zero tears and zero stitches. She has mommy and daddy wrapped around her finger 🎀 11-16-15
