I have both.. but preferably a crib. Alot of them can break down into a different bed as the kid grows. I have a 4-1 for my son and I've switched it so far 3 times. the last step it turns into an actual bed. i love it.. I like the bassinet because while baby is still newbornish 0-3 months it sits right by my bed and is moveable

With the bassinet I didn't get much use out of it, but I still used it and liked it. I kept it by my bed for 3 months, until she moved around too much for my comfort then she went to her crib. So if you can get a cheap bassinet I'd say it's worth it.

A crib, you can break it down and have it fit to size as baby grows ..the bassinet will only be good for a little while
