@joey717, I knew it wasn't going to be perfect right away but I didn't know there were so many technical parts to it and that baby has to learn to latch and feed too.. Well mine sure did lol and it's still a struggle. It Will get better just takes time💙
Sorry, just thought about the angle of his head too.. Lactation told me u don't have to hold their head only support the neck with thumb and index around the side of the head. Majority of ur hand should be around the shoulders. I hope I'm not over doing it by saying all this. I know how frustrated I got for a few days ..
@joey717, if u have him above he's working twice as hard because of gravity. I do know one mom who found that was easiest for her but only because she had high nipples and her baby girl did not like breast feeding at all. Has anyone talked to u about the swallowing to make sure he's actively nursing and not just sucking? That can make a difference too
@kiyaratores, @myliltadpole1116 @sev1226 thank you! I noticed it does hurt more before the let down good idea, I never heard the keeping his head below my nipple that makes sense I think I mess that up sometimes
Proper latch technique is number one.. Mine gave me blisters on an inverted nipple within our first 4 days of breastfeeding .. It does get better. Wide gaping mouth, top and bottom lips should be puffed out (u can adjust with ur fingers ) and keep his head below ur nipple those were my biggest issues. Massaging before u latch him is important to help the let down that way your babe doesn't have to work and pull so hard. I'm 12 days in now. Good luck mommy!
Make sure he latch the whole thing. It sores the first few days and goes away eventually. The baby knew how to latch you just need to guide them esp. when they are hungry.😊
