very true^^^ it is so they can see if they have to do surgery but it's usuly different per Dr. but don't be scared. talk with your Dr and your SO and so some research. then when you have all the info you can make your desicion. good luck and keep us posted.

My dr told me that it checks for things other than just Down syndrome. (Don't get me wrong I cannot remember the things he told me about to save my life) but he told me it's not about asking me about abortion. He said its for things that they can be prepared for. If they see that the baby will need a surgery that can fix everything rite up then they can have it prepared when you're in labor and not be surprised and have to rush into a situation unplanned which puts a lot of stress on you personally. I didn't plan on getting it until he told me this. But if the dr's are prepared it also helps your baby and you. I would be scared if my baby was rushed away and I didn't know why before hand. Especially if it was a surgery or something. But do what you feel is best. :)

We decided not to do it. I couldn't go my whole pregnancy pressuring myself if something didn't come out okay I just want to enjoy it

It's just done via blood work! I opted for it. It's checks for any abnormalities/Down syndrome and that's when they can do the gender test is along with thag test! All done just from a simple blood draw. Nothing scary! @caddiebugg

Only if the test comes back with anything out of the ordinary. then they ask about amniocentesis and such. @2timesthefun

the just draw like 4-5 viles of blood. i decided to do it because if i needed ro plan for a special needs child i wanted to be as prepared as i could. i dont believe they should allow ppl to abort based on results tho because they are not 100 percent garunteed

I did it mainly to find out the sex of my baby but it also tells you other important things about him or her! they say the gender thing is only so accurate but mine was correct ultrasound proved it!

We didn't do it. From what I understand it tells you if there is a risk for it. Not if your baby/babies have it. The anatomy scan does a good job of checking for some abnormalities as well. It's entirely up to you.

they do that test to see if you have a chromosome abnormality and if you test positive they ask if you want to abort. I refuse every time it is stupid and uncalled for. if my baby comes out with down syndrome they do be it. I'll love them just the same.

Locking your doors We are having a discussion on one of my birth boards from my older kids about locking doors and security alarms. There are many of us (me included) who do not lock our doors at home (I actually don't even have a deadbolt on my house and we don't lock it when we leave either), and others who think that's totally weird. So what do you do? Do you lock your doors? Do you think it's weird that people don't?

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

Transgender children So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are your thoughts on the matter? Do u think the parents are behind this? Idk because I haven't met the parents or children. I just think at 5 it's very young for children to really understand. What do u ladies think?
