Anybody else have gestational diabetes? I'm adjusting to the meal plan, but it's been a struggle to not indulge in the fresh mango or chocolate ice cream I miss so much!
@hojojita, how many mgs do they have you taking and when do they have you taking the medicine?
yeah, I was on a low carb diet and ate really good trying to avoid it but still got it. The nutritionist I had was the same and she was rude but I spoke with another one and she gave me a break down of sweets I could have, she said fruits were fine as long as they are fresh fruits
@mrs.walton26, that's awesome. I had made a lot of changes before I was even told about the diabetes, in fear of getting them. But what I was told was its a "miscommunication" between your body and placenta. So you can be the healthiest eater and still get them. It's just annoying that when I asked the nutritionists if j want something sweet, what I could have and she shakes her head and says "nothing."
@jashmen, my fasting is supposed to be under 90, and I have never had it even close to that. It's always 100-120.
@arijane316, that's awesome! I always want to eat the whole apple haha but maybe if I put half away I will forget about it
I have it as well, my sugar is always around 110 the highest it has been is 121. I have made some changes in my diet but not really. If that makes sense ? lol The only time it gets high is in the morning when I draw my blood during the fasting period its like 93 but I was told it's because my body is releasing sugat if my body thinks its hungry at night
@jashmen, my fasting is too high so I was placed on glyboride or whatever it's called to lower it, and my levels are supposed to be 130. Sometimes I have a little here or there, but I have to make sure I walk a lot after eating the fruit or whatever. The nutritionist made me this super strict diet plan and said I couldn't eat any artificial sugar!!! Although, I did have some sugar free cookies yesterday, couldn't help it!
my dad found that he could eat a quarter of an apple or pear with 1 of his meals. he has diabetes so I watch how he does his meals everyday
@hojojita, I have to take 2 at night for my fastings and one after breakfast. but they are not 100% sure I have GD cause I didn't do the 3 hour blood test only did the 1 hour. they went by me having to always do the 3 hour one with my first two and came back fine.
