I'm doing a natural birth too but I'm using a birthing tub. I hate needles and if I had to get an epidural it would be worse because I'd probably have an anxiety attack. The birthing tub is going to be my pain relief. The warm water is supposed to help with contraction pain and make everything a little more flexible down below to help prevent tearing. I also won't be stuck on the bed, I'll be able to move around when I feel the need to.
It really wasn't that bad the burning when he was crowning was the worse but overall way better then i had made it out to be in my head and i did it for 36 hrs mind you. I stayed home like i said till 90 mins before i sat on the toliet, bath, bed and repeated that for hours. By the time i got to the hospital i was in a trance like state they told me i just chouldnt be that far along because i was so calm and quiet sure enough i was lol. I cant tell you how bad my needle phobia is i mean i had a tooth pulled without novacine to avoid needles. But i was in such a trance like state I honestly didnt care about the iv. I also felt amazing afterwards. Im very proud of the fact i did it natural and plan to do the exact same thing very soon im 37 weeks. It really is cliche but its a natural thing. Now my one thing is i dont know if i would feel the same way if i was in the hospital the whole time in a hospital bed so. 😩😦 good luck youll be fine though 😘
I hate needles as well thats why i went with no epidural for me that would have been worse. I stayed home till i was 8cm but again the pain really wasn't that bad. Good luck
@audranb87, its like the closer I get the more nervous I get because its my first plus idk what yo expect and I hate needles but I'd rather have an epidural than the pain ...I'm a big baby
I was scared to death. like nightmares and panic attacks and honestly I would give birth again in a heartbeat. my cervix dilated really fast while I took a bath in the hospital and the epidural took 2.5 hours to place and I had 11 tries before they got an ultrasound of my spine to place it. at that point I was 9 cm dilated. the epidural wasn't that horrible at all. I was super nervous because I faint when I get my blood drawn and I was fine. and after the epidural I was relaxed, I did what the doctors asked and 30 min of pushing and she was here. it was a great experience. you do have to be still for the epidural which I was, I just was a difficult case. anesthesiologist said I was the hardest to place in the 30 years he has been doing them. you will be great. dont stress it.
I felt it all, but majority of people say that the epidural doesn't hurt. I say those people are crazy. Haha. I was crying like a baby. He knew what he was doing, I think I moved a wrong way and messed it up so it was probably my fault that it hurt so bad.
why would they have someone doing it that didn't know what they were doing lol @ethemy1315 so it hurt less If it's done right? did u feel it the second time?
It works wonders! It was the worst pain I ever felt getting it, but that's because he stuck me in the wrong place and had to redo it. As long as the anesthesiologist doesn't mess yours up, you should be good! I loved having my legs all numb lmao

It's worth it whether it hurts or not. I didn't feel a thing after. only thing I felt was pressure when it was time to push.
Tristin·
ugh that makes me nervous I hate needles especially big ones @ethemy1315 yeah I've heard you have to be still
