Since I got married my dad hasn't spoken to me. He didn't want me to get married. I am sorry! I am an adult and capable of making my own decisions.. I was in the Olympics for swimming, i finished my bachelors and masters degree, and I'm doing just fine!! I may be only 24 but i am not a baby! And now I am pregnant and he doesn't even care to pick up the phone so I can share the news with him 😢 breaks my heart.. He was an amazing dad and I totally lost him because I followed my heart. Sorry.. rant is over.

You should try. This makes me sad. He needs to trust that he raised an awesome woman.
@babymama2016, yeah it happens.. and I'm sure we might accidentally do the same thing to our children because parents always want better for their children then what they did..

@babymama2016, yeah my mother has said the same thing to my grandmother because she is judging my current relationship with my fiance he is 10 yrs older and my grandparents are 10 yrs apart too haha
map hrodite2014, aww I'm sorry.. Thank you for sharing your story. My grandma did the same thing to my mom, so my mom left her home country and moved to live with my dad. And now he's giving me crap for getting married against his will. What baffles me is that he should understand love and romance after all that him and mom had to go through to stay together,, but no. He has too much pride. I will send him pictures and hope he softens up someday..
@momx2, yea I could. I am not 100% sure he'll get it, because he lives outside of the US.. But it is definitely a good idea
I can't say it will get better but parents do eventually come around sounds like your dad will be a tough rock to crack but he will eventually come around stand stong and prove him wrong... I'd send him pictures of his grandbaby.. my grandmother kicked my mom out when she found out she was pregnant with me because it was out of wedlock and I was a "black man's child" my grandfather eventually told her she can get over it because my mom was coming home with me regardless, but the moment she saw me she melted.. I'm not the favorite grandbaby.
@momx2, aww thank you girl!!! You're so sweet.. I know it makes me sad too. I was always a good kid, never making my parents upset. It sucks when the only decision I make on my own is rejected. Oh well
