Went to visit a friend today and their baby is almost 2 months old...And I don't wanna be…
Went to visit a friend today and their baby is almost 2 months old...And I don't wanna be judgemental, but it seems like she just sticks a binky in the baby's mouth to fix everything! The whole time I was there all she did was feed the baby once, pop the binky back in, and set her down in a bouncer, swaddled up...and it was SUPER hot in their room, me and my 4 month old were sweating 😓 Anyways, and please no one think I'm trying to brag...but honestly when I saw this baby, held her, changed her diaper...I was shocked at how this baby still acted like a newborn! She was less aware and had worse head control than my girl at 3 WEEKS. I know every baby develops differently, but can it really be that big of a difference?? I'm not used to babies besides my own, and this baby just wouldn't even look me in the eyes when I held her close and barely could hold her head and I'm just thinking at 2 months my girl was smiling at strangers and sitting up with me ALL THE TIME, cooing and baby talking, and was rolling already! Someone please tell me if I'm crazy lol what were your 2 month old's capable of doing? Is it really surprising that her baby still acts like a newborn or am I just trippin?? Lol sorry I'm really not trying to offend I'm genuinely curious!!!

they just don't work with the baby which is sad because they are only setting the poor child back

Oh forgot my point in the beginning was, I think maybe because they TREAT her like a useless baby all the time, maybe that's why she isn't learning these things as fast, because they don't interact they just pacify the girl and set her down.....

@airannamommy, that's what I was thinking, but I didn't wanna just assume....I mean, like I said I don't really know how other babies act just my own, and I don't know I guess the "average" cut off for these milestones if that makes sense....

I mean at 2 months the child should have pretty good head control it's all about the amount they work with the baby

@airannamommy, what about the brain development stuff? Like my daughter was very attentive, curious about everything, was smiling and laughing at strangers and grabbing and playing with toys, and rolling! And I've heard a lot of moms on here say their babies were basically doing the same, but literally our friend's baby would look away from me and even her mom, she didn't DO anything but grump on and off and sleep! Just feels like a HUGE difference to me, like she acted like a newborn in every sense!

@supermom1104, what a cutie! You're right, I mean I miss my lil baby but from day ONE I treated her like a lil person, I let her TRY to do things instead of just lying around babying lol....when she wanted to sit up, I let her! She would walk around with me, sitting up holding her head at 3 weeks! Because I saw she liked to see everything and made the effort to lift her head, I helped her do it and she mastered it quick!

EXACTLY, the babies are definitely in control but my daughter only let me swaddle her for a week and now since then shes hated it, tries to squirm all crazily out of it. i still wish i could swaddle her up and keep her my tiny baby but i love seeing her advance as well

my daughter is EXTREMELY attentive. she loves to look at everything and watch and sit up. she also has had almost perfect head control sink like week 2. she hates tummy time though so she doesn't roll but she tries to stand already and plays all the time.

@supermom1104, glad I'm not alone! My girl did the SAME THING with the swaddling! She HATED it, she was mere days old and sleeping sprawled out with her arms straight up and legs spread lol

Glad I'm not crazy or just being one of those mommy's who thinks their baby is Einstein lol I hate to think of myself as one of those judgemental moms!

I try not to be because I've been judged a lot for form mulla feeding my daughter (not on here) so I always try to think of the best reasoning and remind myself, not my child not my business. unless they are actually causing harm to the child I DEFINITELY don't try to correct other parents. so I totally feel you. @hellosweetie

@lexis_mommy15, same here, I breastfeed exclusively and had a natural, med-free birth and this friend formula feeds and had epidural...I never judged her about that, because she is not me and she will parent how she parents. But this was just a huge surprise to me, and I was totally shocked! That, and she's scaring me with the SIDS risks, she over swaddles the baby in that got room and the crib is COVERED in SIDS risk factors, including a blanket that kept covering the baby's face 😦 I mean, I didn't say anything though because that is her baby and plenty of moms have done the same thing with the pillows and blankets and crib bumpers and all that and we all turned out fine lol it's just I have another friend who's baby died of SIDS so I'm overly paranoid about it, I've seen the damage and hurt it causes and that just makes me CRINGE to see that, I don't know what I'd do if that happened to this friend's baby....I've mentioned SIDS risk factors before politely when she was still pregnant and she didn't seem worried though so I don't dare push the matter!

it always seems like a huge issue...ill take advice ya know, if someone tells me my babies hot and its hot ill agree and take a layer off her, ppl get to offended too easily when people are trying to just help them . so id probably tell her...just say it in a manner where you seem worried about her and the baby instead of attacking her...im not a perfect mom by far but id want to know if i was doing something wrong.. i know not everyones like that but jeez and no one should judge on how you feed your baby, we are all gonna deal with an asshole person. my boyfriends mom said everyones shocked i breastfeed because im white and not a lot of white people breastfeed..so ignorant...i know so many white people that breastfeed smh

@supermom1104, some people are so ignorant, that is ridiculous! Can't tell you how many people laughed at my plans for a natural birth and told me "you have no idea just wait, you're gonna be BEGGING for an epidural!" smdh...I did mention when I picked her baby up that she was sweaty baby and I took the swaddle off her...but I'm not going there with the bed situation, last time I nearly got my head bit off by her mother in law who they live with....can't even talk about my birth in front of them because they get so booty tickled about it "not everyond has an easy birth like you!" just because I had a fast birth (labored at home until water broke, got to hospital and was 4cm dilated and an hour and a half later she was OUT) doesn't mean I had it "easier" than anyone else! I just have a different pain threshold! I went through 6cm's of dilation in an HOUR, it felt like my body was being ripped apart from the inside!!! But everyone handles things different so why get offended? I'm not offended that she got the epidural at 3cm or that she gave up on breastfeeding in the first week because her nipples hurt, so why be offended by my choices? Lol sorry getting into an entire debate about it over here....I'm glad I'm not super judgemental about this or crazy, but I always remind myself not to meddle in other's business, it's nor polite and I can't tell someone how to raise their own child!

I'm always learning new things about parenting and I like to see how other parents do things, if someone gives me a hint I'll gladly take it if it applies to our situation, and I am all for no mommy shaming! Like I said I was just a bit shocked at how polar opposite she is with her baby and how different her baby is developmentally! I'll get over it and I accept that is how they choose to do things and I'm trying my best to keep an open mind 😊 I just choose to parent differently, and it works for us 😄

i totally understand where youre coming from....i might be a little nuts because ill feel like im being judged for how i do things and my defensive mode is kind of like picking at what people do..because no ones perfect, im no where near it but i usually dont say anything because sometimes it can be rude too, but i have a friend who always puts tight socks on her daughter and they cut her circulation so i told her and she was okay with that . sometimes having an outside perspective as a first time mom is good..two heads are better than one type thing ya know? i tried hard to do NO DRUGS i had dialated to almost 5 cm and couldnt take the pain anymore...and thats okay...i took the epidural and shortly after had an emergency c section so the epidural wouldve been given to me either way because my daughters heart rate kept dropping...if anyone ever judged me because of that id tell them off because thats just ignorant @hellosweetie i exclusively breastfeed as well...stuck through the pain, it wasnt easy and its definetly something you have to set your mind too

@supermom1104, I 100% agree! Like obviously I'm not perfect, I'm finding myself judging this friend for her choices but no one is perfect and it's mainly because I was just surprised, and I couldn't believe the huge difference! But I would never tell her to her face that what she does is WRONG, like you said I can try and point things out but if she's not open to advice I won't push it. And I agree, I never told this friend that there was anything wrong with going straight to formula because I know breastfeeding is hard, I've been through the latch issues and the pain and just like the natural birth I know that we all handle things differently and I'm not gonna judge anyone for that, breastfeeding isn't for everyone! And for that reason, and also those mamas who can't produce, formula is a blessing! It's nice to talk to another mama who understands and doesn't take what I'm saying as an insult lol
