I have done a lot of research on both. I personally think midwives are better. Midwives let the baby come when he/she is ready unless it's life threatening of course as to a doctor will induce you after so long and with the induction medication. (Protocin) it makes the babies blood pressure raise then you have to have an emergency c section. That is the main reason I want a midwife.

It's like you're having a friend deliver the baby instead of a stranger. They get to know you and care about you doctors are like yeah okay see you next appointment bye. Where I love the closest midwife is 2 hours away so I'm kind of forced to have a doctor but I will Definately have a midwife my next baby

I had a midwife wroth my last pregnancy. she was awesome! if she was still in practice, I'd be making the hr long drive to her for every appointment. She allowed me to be induced at 39 weeks but also respected my wishes for a natural delivery. She stayed and coached hubby and i through the whole 4 hrs of labor. I'm interested to see how things will go with my new ob, I tried looking for another midwife but they weren't as awesome as my last one so I went with an ob.

I have a midwife but Bc of Florida law and my choice to deliver in a hospital I'll be delivering with a doula and the Dr on call. Not very thrilled about it but grateful for my doula who will make sure my birth plan goes accordingly. There is such a huge difference to me when it comes to a midwife/OB. The principles they have learned are more aimed towards baby and mama and with an OB it was way different for me. Not that all OB's are that way but midwives are trained specifically for this time in a women's life.
