I need potty training advice. my son is 3 and I've tried about 5 times to potty train him but this time I'm determined for it to stick (I know, he'll do it when he's ready but I'm due in 5 months and I'm not changing 3 sets of diapers all day every day) anyway he refuses to poop on the toilet. It scares him for some reason. so he holds it all day and then when we put his pull up on at night he destroys it. any suggestions?
I'll tell my strategies to get some new ideas. every half hour to an hour I put him on the toilet so he doesn't pee in his big boy unders and if he pees in the toilet he gets a treat. he gets a bigger treat if he poops...but he hasn't yet. I don't let him alone so he doesn't sit in the corner and mess himself.

@aphrodite2014, he has his own little potty but he refuses to sit on it. I forgot to add that. but ya I've tried that one too. thank you though it's a good idea :) @callumsmommy I haven't gotten him a squishy seat. I didn't even think about that. that's how we potty trained my little brother. I'll get one and see how he does with that. thank you!

@nharri22, my son was always afraid of the toilet until we let him flush the toilet on his own. we would let him go all day in his underwear and we let him pick out his underwear. we never bought pullups. after 3 days of staying on top of it he slept through the night in his underwear. some kids are just hard to get them to go poop in the toilet for some reason. I think once he goes poop in the toilet for you it will be a breeze. I remember telling my two that if they poop in the toilet that we will go to the store and they can pick out a toy (but only the first poop) it seem to work. then after that it would be just a piece of candy. my son didn't like to pee sitting down he wanted to stand which made that easy. they never like the little potty they wanted the big potty and we would leave the bathroom open and kinda let them go on their own and follow just a few seconds behind them made it look like we where checking in on them. kinda let them do it on their own. we would tell them to scoot back. I still have to remind my oldest to scoot back, but I dont mind the mess if she misses...it's an easy clean up. you can ask for advice but honestly I just did what worked for me and most of for them. I also waited until they where ready. my daughter was 4 when she was completely potty trained. I didnt push her and my son was potty trained by 3. all because we where working on her.

Put him in underwear let him pick them out so the can be extra especial and send him potty every 15 minutes reward with a small treat even if he doesn't do anything. That's the strategy I use with my preschool students that aren't fully or potty trained at all
