I'm worried when I take my maternity leave. They take out all your sick and vacation leave (I don't have much sick leave. maybe I have saved up to two weeks) then I belive it's unpaid....I can't afford 4-6 weeks unpaid leave. I really wouldn't want to go back to work after two weeks of giving birth. I'm hoping I can qualify for paid leave.

Use up your sick pay and they will pay you maternity leave or short term disability

If you run out of sick pay they have to give you short term disability . Or straight maternity leave . They want you to use what you earned first before they pay you from there pockets

@babybermea, companies aren't required to give you paid maternity leave. My company only offers unpaid as well. I specifically got Aflac a couple of years ago in preparation for having a baby as they pay you a portion of your pay through short term disability.

They may not have short term disability. My job doesn't. You need to talk to HR to see if you have options.
