MOMMIES I need some insight. I just read that it's common for first time moms vaginas to tear while giving birth. Is it painful? What should I expect if it happens to me?... Just an overthinking Ftm lol

I've heard you don't really feel it when it happens, cause so much other stuff is going on. but I also heard it can hurt when they stitch you back up, and takes a little while to heal.

I didn't even know I tore when I gave birth. I didn't have any pain or anything delivering but my very first picture of me holding my daughter I have this disgusted look on my face because I saw the doctor down there with a needle and thread and had no clue what he was about to do and why lol.

My stitches healing was probably the worst part of everything.

I tore a lot on the inside, I didn't even know until my Doctor explained he was stitching things up. I was way too busy loving on my baby. My Doctor spent a lot of time stretching my vagina as I was crowing, with his fingers, so I'm sure that helped. I wouldn't worry at all.

I tore, I had a 2cd degree tear, it doesn't always happen, but it can. It took me about 6-7 weeks to completely feel fine as far as down there, and not super tender. I slightly felt myself tear too, even with the epidural but it was basically wore off by the time I started pushing. Also, I pushed her out in around 15 minutes so they say if you push them out kinda fast it aids in tearing too from not pacing a lot.

Perineum massages are supposed to help with the flexibility to help you not tear, also kegal exercises are good to do too. Hubby did a few of the massages for me and I've always done kegals and I'll be having a water birth with will also help with flexibility so I'm hoping it all works in my favor and I don't tear.
