Question* when did you mommies start finger foods? My daughter eats solids like a champ and sits on her own but doesn't seem to want to craw yet. She does walk in her walker. I'm scared to try finger foods because I don't want her to choke.
@eskawho, ok yea I'm just that paranoid mom that I don't even like leaving her unattended for a minute. she also tries crabbing food from my plate and grab the spoon when I'm feeding her. But I'll try it tomorrow hopefully she likes it and we have no problems with it.
nope no teeth, she is now just getting her 1st one at 9 months lol. we started with puree foods at 6 months , ones she got used to that we did puffs because they melt, learn to pick them up, and chews. you can do soft fruits and veggies just cut very small that she can swallow. but if she showing chewing motion just start real soft and work up. Gerber makes stage 3 baby food that has soft chunks in it. I was nervous at 1st but she mashed those puffs like no tomorrow lol.
@eskawho, did she have teeth when you started to give them to her? And did you introduce them solids at 6 too? Because we introduce solids at 5 months and she's 7 now about to be 8 in 16 days but lately she's been doing the chewing motion.
@lil_bigmama, @omnomnomnivor @queendavis thank you ladies I will have to go look for them tomorrow.
we start with puffs at 6 months. my daughter doesn't crawl yet but eats all sorts of soft foods. she really started around 7 months because she was doing the chewing motion. now at 9 months she eats most soft foods we do. the Gerber puffs are great.
Puffs melt which is good cuz even if she did choke they would just dissolve. They also make yogurt bites that dissolve. I say you could go ahead and give her some and see how she does. Just watch her closely :)
just start slow, 1 piece at a time. I'm sure she will make faces at 1st but she is going to love feeding herself. she may not pick up food yet and that's ok. my daughter it took a few times until she understood she could feed herself...now she prefers it lol. good luck. I'm a paranoid mom too...I asked her pediatrician a lot of questions and read so much on feeding lol.
