it never has hurt me, except when I first tried breastfeeding and I was not familiar with it, and he was not latching on right and it made my nipples so sore! now that I learned how they are supposed to latch I don't have any problems. but girl @monkey16 just give it a try it may come naturally to you, and it will be an amazing thing for you to do for your baby! :)
