Opinions and experiences with epidural? pros and cons? please include both!
I didn't feel any pain at all but when it was time to push I was so numb I couldn't tell if I was pushing and had to stop and let it wear off a bit
Pro: I was able to relax during my 14 hours labor. Con: I hated that I was stuck in bed for like 12 hours and I think it slowed my labor down.
I got it and it failed I had extremely bad contractions on my left hip and pretty much yelled at my husband to put pressure on my hip. that was the only place it really hurt I could take the back pain and cramps. and the after pain I have now is annoying I have back pain all in the area where it went in and I'm almost 6 months pp
I got the epidural at 7 cm an hour later I had my baby boy. some say it slows labor, that wasnt the case with me. getting the epidural was the best decision for me, no regrets lol. I don't have back pain either. well, no more than usual. btw the epidural didnt hurt more than getting the flu shot.
I had an epi , I don't have any back pain and I'm 9 months pp .I guess it just depends on the person .
Pros less pain. Cons horrible back pain afterwards it's been 2 years since I got the epidural with my first and I have horrible sciatica and arthritis. Went natural with my second and honestly I didn't even think comparing the two that the epidural was even worth it
very little pain to none, i felt the contractions during labor but that was about it. it was really uncomfortable not being able to move my legs. 2 months pp & laying in certain positions is sometimes extremely painful...
I refuse to get an epi because my mom got one and to this day she has horrible back pains... she said when they went to put the needle in, they had to try again, twice...
No pain, or very little pain, but you lose functions from the abdomen down. I didn't like that I couldn't feel my legs personally
i had an epidural and it made me loopy and no pain from the contractions at all. though i did feel some during labor. though being a month pp i am having back aches right where they inserted it. i don't know if it's going to last forever but it sucks
I didn't have pain but I wound up being put under because when they went to do my csection I could still feel then pinching me
No cons.. Best decision I could have made. My labor was excruciating and I say 3-5 min after getting the epidural I was in heaven. I was only in labor for 6 1/2 hours but the first 3 hours had me screaming then I was able to rest for another 3 hours till I had my son
