I didn't get my son one this year one cause his Dr didn't offer it and two I always get sick from the flu shot so I didn't want him to be sick either so I didn't ask about it. my son has yet to be sick from the flu
they are optional. I always got sick from the flu shot my friend got her 3 year old daughter the flu shot and she got sick a week later. so I didn't ask for it for.my son without it he has a 50/50 chance of getting sick and with a flu shot he has more of a chance of getting sick but that's just from my friends getting.it.for their kids and their kids always get the flu after the shot.didn't wanna take the chance
Yes they are optional but IMO I would rather get them than not. Sure people can get sick from them but they don't get the actual full version of the flu and the sickness they get is just the shot doing its job and the body fighting it off. You can still get the flu after the shot because there are many different strains but being protected from one (usually the main one around at the time) can help your body deal with other strains better and keep you from getting the strain that you're vaccinated against. I would really rather my kid take the risks with the flu shot rather than without it, especially if they're around other little ones
I'm with @jaxensmomma0213. I got it for my daughter and myself at the hospital right after she was born. you can never 've too careful, especially with winter babies.

I have always gotten my son his flu shot since he was ood enough to get it. The flu can get really bad for littke ones.
