Mommies I have a question. When weaning a baby from formula what are good foods to feed him? How many times a day should he eat food to make up for the formula? He turns 1 in 8 days so just trying to get ready for weaning him.

Since he's about 1, he can eat anything that you do. Just let him eat whatever you're having. They need to eat quite a bit so shoot for 3 meals a day with a snack between each one. He won't always want to eat at each meal and that's okay, he's not going to starve himself. Once you get to doing it, you will begin to see when he wants to eat and you can develop a schedule from there. You can also give him milk, juice and water to drink with meals and if you are having a hard time weaning at first, they make a formula for kids beyond 1 year that he can have that will be better for hik until he is weaned.

the pediatricians told me when I wanted to take my son off formual that I could feed him a jar (or 2 if he can eat that much) of baby food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with snacks in between. You can give them juice from about 6 months and up, but only from sippy cups. and I would dilute it at first to see how it affects your LO. They said as long as he'll eat the food, to let him. Milk, however, should wait until about 11-12 months and start off mixing 2 oz with the baby's formula and raise it every couple of weeks in order to monitor how they react to it.

Foods like that would not hurt him a little before he turns 1, Just make sure its in pieces he can easily est without choking. Starting milk before age one is kinda different so I would ask your pedi when he/she thinks milk should be introduced. I have heard some say as early as 10 months and I have heard other say 12 months. You can introduce it however you would like but when i first gave it to my son, I just put it in a sippy to drink along with his meal. Let me tell you he did NOT like it too much at first lol but some kids take to it right away. Try to gradually let him drink it and without letting him drink too much at a time at first because when they're not used to it, it constipates them easily. With juice it can be any kind but at 1 year, I woukd only give my son 100% real juice without added sugar, maybe I'm just picky but I only gave him real stuff until he was about 1 1/2. Not by choice but that's when my famiky members introduced him to things like kool-aid. You don't need to dilute juice at 1 year.

@s_ochoa1215, my pediatrician recommended 100% juice with no added sugars also. so it's not just you, lol. however, even if they hadn't I probably still would use it as well. Little ones don't need all the sugar. they're already hyper enough. haha

OK thank you @jaxensmomma0213 so far I've only did 2 juices and he can't do apple juice I'll look into another 100% juice for him other than white grape juice. @s_ochoa1215 OK thank you I'll give his Dr a call and see about the whole milk. he don't like baby food anymore so I'll just start giving him actual food since he likes it more. yeah I don't want him having any sugar really I'll give him a Popsicle every now and a again but he only gets a few bites cause of the sugar content
