⚠️Concerned first time mommy⚠️
So I got a call from my genetic counselor earlier about my X-Ray/ultrasound exam and was told that there was a bright spot seen in my daughter's heart (also known as EIF: Echogenic Intracardiac Focus). For those who don't know, it's found in 3-5% of normal pregnancies and normally goes away by the third trimester, but it's said that there is a small risk for down syndrome and other birth defects. All of my blood tests came back normal and my GC assured me I have nothing to worry about, so I just wanted to know have any of you mommies experience this and if so did it end up going away? Please let me know!
Being a first time mommy alone has made me overprotective lol so any and everything will be a cause of concern for me. My GC did tell me about the amnio test and how it's a risk for miscarriage and not only that, I don't think I'd feel comfortable having a needle stuck in my belly anyways so that's definitely a no go for me! I'm just staying prayerful that I have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby girl born. It's just good to know that the things we worry about are common with other mommies and end up being nothing to worry about in the long run! @babybermea ❤️
I went to the max extent to make sure everything was ok lol just bc I'm a little over protective !! If you don't have it and no one in your family has then is literally just a precaution to cover there basis in the past that's how they found out there was Down syndrome now days there's sooo many tests and ultra sounds were so lucky to be pregnant in this world of amazing technology that detects any little discrepancies ..If some one took the blood test and they offer you more testing then that's when you should worry such as the Amniocentesis test which can be very dangerous so if any of y'all are offered that I would research and research and research if your leaning towards it to make sure it's the right option for you and your un born baby but generally they just test your blood bc the chromosome would show up in your blood since it's not a trait that you have and they detect that it's from the baby. So girl your fine !!! 💙💙💙
I felt the same way!@babybermea and thanks dear! @kchilds I hope the same for you!
Wow so it's more common than I thought! Thanks that made me feel better @angelamarie @babybermea and glad to know it went away!
That happened to me too I was so worried and then got the genetic blood test done after the ultra sound . I'm now 35 weeks and there's no sign of anything don't worry as mother we get so stressed and I cried and didn't want anyone to know other then my husband bc I felt like it was my fault . The testing helped me feel a million times more better .
my Dr said that if you took 1000 babies with that spot maybe 5 would have downs syndrome
Wow had the same shen I was pregnant!
