if you drink coffee pop etc you have to drink a lot more and pregnant women require more then the daily average

I would say only if you are sweating a lot or doing strenuous activity. It's a common misconception that coffee or soda will dehydrate you. The truth is that they contain water, but they're not nearly as healthy as drinking water straight. In pregnancy, we do have to drink plenty of water but even the whole 8 cups a day is a myth. It is good to drink that much water, but that is not the number that is needed for daily intake. Some women can pass out during pregnancy, or feel dizzy, but those are problems that can be related to different things as well, not just dehydration. For example, blood sugar problems can have common side effects as dehydration. As well as the fact that we pump more blood to the baby, and less goes to our brains. This is the reason for dizzy spells and also what we refer to as "pregnancy brain" as we can be more forgetful because of the lessen in our blood flow.
