LADIES I NEED ADVISE ; my husband and I are trying for a second baby. And we have a little orange tabby, he's about 3 months old with current shots. I recently found out that if you're pregnant you should stay as far away from the liter box as possible. And I will BUT My kitty gets on counters, he's all over the place, is there any possible way he could still carry the toxoplasmosis outside of his liter box? Or am I just worrying too much? 🤔🤔

yes they can cuz the cat litter gets or can get stuck to their paws and or butt

I wouldn't be to worried unless you were constantly handling your cat

Maybe.. you can get toxoplasmosis by coming in contact with the cats feces. Ive never had a cat so i wouldnt know how their litter stuff works but if theyre in and out of it i would say its possible. Have maybe your SO or someone bathe and change the kitties litter as often as possible?

Everything ive read about it doesnt really say to stay away from the cats or anything.. it just says to have someone else clean the litter box.

I have a cat and we had to put his food up on the counter so the dog doesn't eat it which means he's up there all throughout the day. I still pet him and love on him but my husband changes the litter box and we just make sure to clean the counters really well (even though he's only allowed on the one)

I've got four grown cats and five two month old kittens I basically love on them all everyday all day long. Idk if it will affect my baby but I only have two days till induction so I will find out soon

@brudd330, @floress_j @pregoprincess thank you ladies I appreciate the responses , I'm still not quite sure what i want to do. Keep him or give him another home. It does make sense that there's a chance it could happen and I'm not sure id like to take that risk since I bought him off Craigslist so I'm not sure what kind of home he was in. :(

@lovechild426, hopefully it did not affect the baby in any type of way, I've read all types of things that could go wrong if you get infected, which is horrible. I Hope you deliver a perfect healthy baby ☺️

thanks, I think she will be fine I'm more worried she would be allergic to them. they say if you've already been introduced to it before you got pregnant that it won't affect the baby at all and you can't be introduced a second time. I've changed cat boxes like the past ten years so its possible nothing will come of it just stay away from the littee

That's what I've been reading as well, if you're already had it there's no chance of contracting it.
Oh see you've dealt with kitty's and cats for a long time , you're probably immune to it lol which is great. In the other hand I've only had mine for maybe 2 months and like I had mentioned earlier I got him off Craigslist so I'm not quite sure what kind of home he was in, I also just got told about the whole beware of the litter box while pregnant about 2 weeks ago 😕
