my sister, the know it all of being pregnant, says that even if I go to the dentist there's nothing they can do for my tooth/gum/jaw pain.
that they can't give me any type of pain med at all or anything.
please tell me she is wrong cause I cannot handle this pain

I had a tooth pulled at 20 weeks and they gave me penicillin for the infection and if I was in a lot of pain they were gonna prescribe me vicadin.
Put ice on the side that is swollen or hold ice cold water there if it is an infection it will take the pain away while it is cold because infections grow way faster with warm or hot stuff
That's nt true I went to dentist got 2 teeth pulled and they gave me Norco for pain meds krazy but trhey
my jaw is swollen on that side too. if it is infection antibiotic would help so much too. I'm going on Monday, cause my luck, this had to happen during the holidays
Yup the most they'll give you would be Tylenol 3 and antibiotic for infection, which that's probably what's causing you the pain. definitely GO to the dentist though!

I'm a DA. Go to the dentist. It sounds like you're in need of a root canal. You need antibiotics. They will help with the pain since the infection will be treated. They will need to open and medicate the tooth which will make it sore but will get better. All dentists are different. Mine actually speaks with our patient's OB's about proper pain management. The best thing you can do for yourself is go in.
