what could it mean if you get your priod late, but it only lasts for one day? I usually have normal, on time, heavy flow periods that last for 5-6 days. what's going on?

You could be stressed , or maybe implantation bleeding which can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days . I would wait a few more days & maybe take a test ! sometimes our bodies are just weird like that and it's nothing t all. a lot of thing can cause an irregular period.
