when you have gestational diabetes,do the doctors do more ultrasounds to check on baby????

Yea I think they should test sooner also. I was tested at 14 weeks and failed. I did it again at 28 weeks passed it but they said they break the hours down and one part I failed. only by two points. whatever the case may be,it sucks. I'm a bigger girl to begin with and I have two other children and also thyroid disorder so getting the weight off isn't easy. which is the only part I'm stressing. I supposed if their worried about the baby,they'd let me know. with me gaining so much,I just hope he's not like six pounds lol my youngest was 8.12 and it was hell pushing her out and the recovery was even more horrible. @mommygrant_xoxo , @jashmen

@jashmen, it's hard for them to test for it early on, which is why it normally takes place at around 25-27 weeks (where I'm from that's when they normally test you for it) it's easier for them to detect it with being farther along so they can see the increase and or decrease in your sugar levels. @randirenee don't worry about the weight gain, more than likely it will fall off after delivery. (With time of course, breastfeeding and or pumping does the body wonders) I only gained 17lbs with my first, but with this pregnancy I lost 18 lbs within the first couple weeks due to morning sickness and I'm gaining it back pretty quick. I'll be 33 weeks Friday.

@randirenee, I'm up 47lbs at 32 weeks. gestational diabetes is not my friend I think they should test sooner and look for early signs so the mama doesn't gain so much weight it's not fair

Since you're only 29 weeks, they will probably just keep measuring your stomach to see the change, and being that you have GD that could make you gain weight as well, so they will probably try a stricter diet first, and measuring your stomach as usual unless they notice a change... Then if anything changes they may schedule a growth ultrasound but that's usually not until about 35-37 weeks!

I've been gaining 5lbs a week with gestational diabetes. it sucks. you should be seeing your doc once a week now though

They haven't for me. :( I just get one more ultrasound at 36 weeks to make sure she's head down.

hmm. I've gained so much weight. you'd think they would to measure the baby. I'm measuring a month ahead and just in a weeks time,I gained another five lbs 😭 @mommygrant_xoxo

No ma'am. They usually just put you on a stricter diet. But I guess it all depends on your doctor.
