I thought I should share my birth story, skin here we go!!
It was November 29th (my baby's due date). It was the 3rd day I had been having contractions. Only this day, they were way wirse, closer together, and lasting longer. They averaged at 45 seconds for a little over an hour, 6 minutes apart. Soni called my doctor and she said if I felt that I needed to come in, to come on in to l&d. So my hubby and I got the bags and car seat and headed there. Once we got there, the nurse checked me to see how dialated I was. She told me that I was at a 4+. Also when she checked she had to be super careful to not break the sac because it was apparently hanging down. So she said she was going to talk to my doc and see if she wanted to admit me. My hospital apparently had a parade of preggies come in all at the same tine, so she had to go get a room cleaned and ready, and about an hour and a half later, I was admitted and put in my room. So I have scoliosis. It's pretty bad, but I've never had surgery or anything for it. But because of it, my OB had told me to prepare myself in case the anesthesiologist told me I couldn't get the epidural. I'd been at the hospital for about 7 or 8 hours by now. The nurse checked me again and I believe I was at a 6 or 7. So they said the anesthesiologist would come soon and see if he could give me an epidural. I ended up trying for it. It did take. However, because of my scoliosis, some traveled to nerves around my right eye, causing it to swell. Because of this, which was apparently really rare, (the guy had never even heard of it happening and actually had to check to see if it happened) I couldn't be put on the epidural drip just to prevent any negative things happening from the swelling. He tikd me the swelking would go away once the meds wore off. About 2 hours later another doctor came in to give me something else in my spine. Can't remember what. But anyway, at this point, I couldn't feel contractions. couldn't even feel most of my body lol. However,n my nurse ended up telling me it'd be a natural birth because I couldn't get the drip. So then the pain started. So much pressure!! It was like being super constipated but still having this huge urge to push. So my nurse let me try pushing. No progress was being made. So when she wasn't holding my leg she told me to just breathe through the urges. I tried. I really did. I didn't last long just breathing though. At this point I was almost fully dialated. There was still a little cervix in the way though. I still continued to try and push. About an hour and a half later, my nurse called my doc in because it was time! Let me tell you....that "ring of fire".. it's no joke. that was the worst part of it all. So I oushed, her head came out. pushed again, her shoulders, another push and the rest of her was out! They took her to clean her after laying her on me to show me. The. I had to push again to get the placenta out. while they clearly ed and weighed my daughter, my doctor was sewing me up. Apparently I also tore weirdly. Instead of up and down, I tore from a little in my vagina, out. So she sewed me up and then I got to really meet my beautiful daughter. She weighed 8 pounds exactly. And was 19 and a half inches long. it was the worst pain I've ever endured, but all worth it. I'm so glad that my daughter is here. she is all I could ever want. She's perfect. :) Sorry this was so long!
My baby weighed 7 pounds 15.9 ounces so they rounded it to exactly 8 pounds too! Congrats
Thank you ! @justine212
